Barnes & Noble Stores Set to Roll Out the Red Carpet

(Or Make That Apples!)

At Nationwide Educator Appreciation Events

From High Teas to Gift Baskets to Book Presentations –

Local Stores Find Unique Ways to Show Their Gratitude

Charlottesville, VA – It’s not Harry Potter.  It’s not Stephenie Meyer.  But it’s still one of the biggest parties of the year!  During the week of Oct. 11-19^th, Barnes & Noble stores across the country will roll out the red carpet (or make that apples!) to honor preK-grade 12 educators in their communities with fun events and special receptions.

“We partner with schools year-round, but at our fall appreciation events, we really take the time to thank educators for all their hard work,” said Sarah DiFrancesco, Barnes & Noble’s Director of Community Relations.  “Educators are so vital to our children’s lives.  They teach them to read and inspire in them a love of learning.  Our booksellers take pride in creating special events to show how much we appreciate them.”

Though “appreciation” is the nationwide focus, each store finds a unique way to celebrate local educators.  Some stores will host high teas in their Cafés, offering pastries with their selection of Harney & Sons gourmet teas.  Others will feature store tours, book talks, game events – even topical seminars earning Continuing Education credits.

The Barnes & Noble store at Barracks Road Shopping Center will host its reception on Tuesday, October 14^th at 6pm for grades 6^th-12^th grade Educators, and Wednesday, October 15^th at 6pm for Pre-K thru 5^th Educators. The event will feature

Special Guest Speakers, Gift Basket Give-a-Ways, raffles, refreshments and much more………

Despite the diversity of activities, a few popular items are featured at every event – the chance for educators to win a $500 Barnes & Noble gift card, (author school visit?), fabulous prizes and giveaways, a 25% discount on classroom and personal purchases, and a 10% discount on CDs and DVDs.

All PreK through 12^th grade school teachers and administrators will receive 25%* off their book purchases and 10% off DVDs and music from October 11th–19th when they present their valid Barnes & Noble Educators Discount Card.

Thirty-three new members joined our ranks in the past week! They are in all our schools and include instructional support staff, custodial staff, teachers, counselors, and administrators. As we begin the new school year, let’s encourage everyone to join the Charlottesville Education Association. Be A Member-Bring A Member!
