Special Discounts & Events for Educators

Barnes & Noble, the world’s largest bookseller will celebrate October Educator Appreciation Week from October 15 – 23, 2011. All Barnes & Noble stores and Barnes & Noble.com (www.bn.com ) will offer special discounts and promotions for pre K – grade 12 administrators and educators. Stores across the country will also host special events and workshops.

Educators who shop at Barnes & Noble during Educator Appreciation Week will receive a 25% discount on personal and classroom purchases, a 10% discount on DVDs and music, a chance to win a NOOK Color™ and other prizes, giveaways, delicious café treats and beverages. Educators must present a valid Barnes & Noble Educators Discount Card to receive the discounts.*

Barnes & Noble has expanded its B&N@ School and Educational Toys & Games departments.
Both sections provide educators and parents with a convenient in store and online one-stop shopping experience and feature exciting new teaching tools and games that make learning fun and engaging.

The B&N@School sections in Barnes & Noble stores are arranged by grade level, from pre- to elementary grades, to middle school and high school. Materials are categorized by topic for each age group. B&N@School includes sections emphasizing curricula, expanded workbook sections, flash cards, manipulatives (products that teach through hands-on experience), puzzles, art supplies and decorations.

As a part of the Educator Appreciation Week celebration, Barnes & Noble stores will also host special events and workshops focused on new NOOK eReader devices. Events will also highlight the many services Barnes & Noble offers designed to save educators time and money. Stores with homeschool populations will host separate events designed to meet the needs of this growing population of educators. The events will focus on key services available to homeschool parents, including the Barnes & Noble educator discount card and fundraising opportunities through the Barnes & Noble Bookfairs program.

The Barnes & Noble store at Barracks Road Shopping Center will host its reception on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 10:00 am for our Home School Educators and on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 5:00 pm for our Pre-k thru 12th Grade Educators. Both events will feature Guest Speaker, June Jenkins from the Charlottesville and Albemarle Safety in School Organization as well as a representative from Avert University. The Virginia Store as well as the Happy Cook will also be on hand. Educators are welcome to attend either or both of the events. Please join us for refreshments, demonstrations, and publishers have provided us with limited free items as well. We look forward to seeing you there.
